Manhattan, KS 66506
In the fall of 1937 a nucleus of students started investigating Pi Tau Sigma with a view to getting a charter at Kansas State College. On April 19, 1939, a number of high-ranking mechanical engineering students decided to make definite plans for immediate action. They obtained the approval of the faculty and petitioned the National Council for a chapter. National President J.V. Martenis officiated at the installation on May 20, 1939, assisted by Professors Haney and Barnard and three officers of the Nebraska Pi Chapter.
The Kansas State Rho Chapter conducts bi-annual review sessions for seniors planning to take the Engineer-In-Training Test. The chapter is responsible for the preparation of a display that will promote campus interest in Mechanical Engineering during the annual Engineering Open House. The chapter is also responsible for presenting an annual award to the outstanding Mechanical Engineering faculty members and is currently establishing an annual composite for graduating Mechanical Engineering seniors.
