Western Michigan Phi Pi

Western Michigan University was founded in 1903. The Mechanical Engineering department received accreditation in 1985. Soon after accreditation, members of the Mechanical Engineering staff pushed for a group of juniors and seniors in the Mechanical Engineering program to petition for a chapter of Pi Tau Sigma. The chapter, Western Michigan Phi Pi, was installed December 5, 1985, by National President Dr. William Cottingham and Secretary-Treasurer Dr. Edwin Griggs.

The Phi Pi chapter will foster leadership in the Mechanical Engineering department. Activities that the members of Phi Pi have implemented include a tutorial service and design contests.
