Missouri KC Phi Eta

The University of Missouri-Columbia/Kansas City engineering program was started in 1973 to make engineering-accessible to people interested in earning a degree but still being able to work in an metropolitan area. The Mechanical Engineering program has grown to the present enrollment of approximately 160 students.

Dr. W. E. Stewart, Jr., of the mechanical engineering faculty, and students with high scholastic standing petitioned the National Council of Pi Tau Sigma for a chapter to be established on our campus. On April 30, 1983, the Phi Eta Chapter was installed as a member chapter by National President A. R. Peters, Regional Vice President J. N. Crisp, and Secretary-Treasurer H. Hewitt, Jr. There were thirteen students and three honorary charter members formally initiated into the fraternity.

The chapter's activities for the year include a project during Engineers' Week involving competition of area high school students. The Phi Eta Chapter looks forward to becoming an active organization on campus and in the national fraternity by promoting high professional and scholastic standards.
