Lawrence Phi Iota

A petition, endorsed by five faculty and forty students, was submitted on January 6, 1983. Lawrence Phi Iota was installed by President Hudy C. Hewitt and National Secretary-Treasurer Edwin I. Griggs on May 21, 1984. The charter group includes thirty-nine undergraduates and two honorary initiates.


ANNUAL SUMMARY REPORTS

2021-2022 - Alysha Vipushan - Vice President

The Lawrence Phi Iota Chapter performed two initiation ceremonies during the 2021-2022 academic year. The fall and spring initiations took place on December 3rd, 2021 and April 22nd, 2022, respectively. Both ceremonies were conducted in person on the Lawrence Technological University campus. Following the induction, each initiate received a pendant.

 

2020-2021 - Robert Rose – President 

The Lawrence Phi Iota Chapter performed two activities during the 2020-2021 academic year. The  activities were the fall and spring semester initiations that took place on November 20th, 2020 and April 9th, 2021. We performed the initiation ritual as it is in the chapter guide, though both initiations had to take place online over Zoom due to COVID-19. Upon completing the ritual, the new members received a pendent. No receptions were held due to COVID-19.

2019-2020 - Victoria Pellerito - President 

The Lawrence Phi Iota Chapter performed one activity during the 2019-2020 academic year. The activity was the fall semester initiation ceremony held on December 6, 2019. The chapter intended to hold another initiation ceremony in the fall but canceled the event due to COVID-19.  We perform the initiation ritual as it is in the chapter guide. Upon completing the ritual, the new members then receive their choice of either a pendent or a charm. The Chapter also planned to participate in the College of Engineering Honors Banquet where all Engineering Honor Societies get recognized and students of outstanding achievements get recognized. Unfortunately, this event also was canceled due to COVID-19.


2018-2019 - Pablo Rípodas - President 

The Lawrence Phi Iota Chapter, during the Academic Year of 2018-2019 performed three activities to do with the organizations.

The first two activities were the ceremonies held to initiate new inductees. We hold two initiation ceremonies, which occurred on December 7, 2018 and March 22, 2019. We perform the initiation ritual as it is in the chapter guide. Upon completing the ritual, the new members then receive their choice of either a pendent or a charm. Afterwards we have a reception for the new members and their families where we introduce them to the engineering faculty and other engineering honor societies

The Chapter also takes part in the Engineering Honor Society Reception where all Engineering Honor Societies get recognized, as well as awards are given to outstanding members of each organization.
